#9 Model What You Expect

SHOW students how it's done. Make sure your expectations aren't a secret.

#9 Model what it is that you expect – Children pay close attention to what we do, and less attention to what we say. It’s like a game of show and tell. They are always much more interested in the show! If you expect them to be on time, make sure you always start on time. If you want them to speak kindly to one another, make sure that’s the only way you speak. If you expect them to come to class prepared, make sure you’re always prepared. If you teach them the importance of prayer in every day life, begin each session with prayer. Make sure that whatever it is you want them to learn, you teach them with your own life.
